Breaking Bad (AMC, 2008–2013) came first. Its prequel Better Call Saul (AMC, 2015–2022) rewinds six years to Jimmy McGill — but its black-and-white “Gene” framing story is set after Breaking Bad, so it also works as a sequel. The film El Camino (Netflix, 2019) picks up in the seconds after the Breaking Bad finale. Short web “minisodes” also exist but aren’t part of the core saga. * In-story dates are anchored to the show’s 2008 release era — Breaking Bad’s internal timeline is highly debated among fans.
