New Avengers Lineup Possibly Leaked, Release Date Changed?

With “Avengers: Doomsday” currently In production, the rumor mill is running rampant, but longtime Marvel leaker Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus says that the Avengers lineup (Sam Wilson’s version) for the film is already set. There is still a ton of speculation about Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman (who interestingly enough has not denied any rumors about his casting in the highly anticipated film), but he is unfortunately not listed on the alleged new roster. Tom Holland has also not been confirmed for the movie, although multiple casting notices and possible villain announcements have been reported on for the fourth film in his Spider-Man franchise. Warning, this article will have multiple spoilers for anyone following the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a surprising move earlier this week, Marvel Studios has delayed the release of both upcoming Avengers films by about 7 & 1/2 months each. “Avengers: Doomsday” had its release date moved from May 1st, 2026 all the way to December 18th of the same year. “Avengers: Secret Wars” will be moving from May 7th to December 17th, 2027. There hasn’t been an official statement from Disney or Marvel Studios but insider statements have cited the scope of the project (being the biggest production ever conceived in the MCU), actually using the word “gargantuan”.

release of both upcoming Avengers films by about 7 & 1/2 months each.

The push to December has also been cited as a favorable month for Marvel due to the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home”, but that sounds more like a coincidental justification than a concrete strategy. With James Cameron’s next ‘Avatar’ movie also scheduled for a December release, this could help give an idea of what’s in store in the Box Office for the highly anticipated sequel to “Avengers: Endgame”. Has a part 5 of any movie series ever been this highly anticipated? With so many huge actors in the mix and scores more waiting for surprise cameos in the wings, we don’t think so.

As far as the actual lineup of Sam Wilson’s Avengers new roster, here is what Alex Perez stated in a Q&A: “Right now, Joaquin Torres, Captain Marvel, Bruce Banner, Wong, and Shang-Chi are the ones officially on his team. I’ve heard they may recruit She-Hulk as well.” He would later to go on to say that Shuri may end up bringing Namor into the battle as well. There was also talk of some kind of ‘team’ for Dr. Doom, which Perez gave a strange response that we’ve met his team before.

This leads us to speculation of multiversal versions of villains we’ve already met, but could it be some old fashioned cloning? If cloning is involved, then Doom looking like Tony Stark could also have its reasons. If Doom does have a team of baddies who have already terrorized the MCU in past incantations, can a mostly wet behind the ears team of Avengers, hope to beat him? That is probably where all the X-Men and the Fantastic 4 come in. Where is Deadpool in all of this? It’s hard to believe that we won’t see the merc’ with a mouth at least for a hilarious cameo. Plus, he has unfinished business with Thor, right? Fans will likely be divided on the news of She-Hulk possibly being on the team but both Shang-Chi and Wong need some more screentime to shine and will hopefully play an important role in the film.
