It’s been over 7 years since we say the boys over at Sunnyvale Trailer Park grace our screens in their cult classic series, but the boys decided to get the band back together for a 13th season. The recently launched TPB+ features a wide variety of ‘Trailer Park Boys’ material (including never before seen footage) and is set to release the next season of the flagship series, which Netflix has produced and released exclusively since season 8.
There’s been speculation for some time now as the actor who plays Bubbles, Mike Smith was seen multiple times in character near the shooting locations that the show has consistently used. Smith and his Co-Stars, Rob Wells, who plays Ricky and John Paul Tremblay, who plays Julian, all spoke about the return in character. Bubbles said: “Feels like it’s been awhile…” while Ricky added “Is this a f*cking dream?” Before Julian exclaimed “We need to celebrate this sh*t!”

Other cast members that are returning include: Patrick Roach, Cory Bowles, Jacob Rolfe, Jeanna Harrison, Sarah Dunsworth Nickerson, Tyrone Parsons, Sam Tarasco, Bernie Robichaud, George Green, Brian Heighton, Garnet Estabrooks, Michael Oliver, Terrence Lucas, Michael Kennedy and David Rossetti. New cast members confirmed include: Deborah Grover, Jordan Prentice, Hal Bissonnette, Noah Al Maktoomi, Uppekha Jain and Courtney Gilmour.
The season will have 10 episodes and will mark the first time the team will produce a seasons after the death of series anti-hero, John Dunsworth, who legendarily played conflicted ex-cop Jim Lahey who was much more than a comedic villain foil. His longtime partner Randy (Patrick Roach) will likely have his hands full carrying the load left by his mentor and friend. Filling Lahey’s shoes seems to be a Herculean task, but the team’s chemistry after 25 years is not a fact that can be written off.

The fact that Smith and the rest of the team are putting it out on their platform is a bold move and could end up hurting the series without the Netflix bump for subscribers. Will people subscribe to an app at $4 or 5 bucks a month solely for “Trailer Park Boys”? The streamer is offering discounts and coupon codes, so they could end yo landing enough subscribers to make the experiment worth it, but after the new season is over, they would likely again lose the majority of their new subs. Ron Murphy will be the Director while Gary Howsam and Jonathan A. Walker will be Executive Producers. TPB+ has replaced the ‘Trailer Park Boys’ original streaming site, SwearNet.
The franchise recently rebranded its site and has been pushing never-before-seen deleted scenes and extras to try to entice potential subscribers. The fact that the site doesn’t have the earlier season of “Trailer Park Boys” that makes the app such a difficult sell, but the creators may have a meager broom line that is attainable even with low turnaround. The news of a new season will help boost new customers, but until the series is finally released, the streamer is unlikely to see a significant surge in users. The series has recently revealed that they concluded principal photography for the 13th season which explains the appearance of Bubbles in character. Reshoots are always a possibility but hopefully the trio of Tremblay, Wells and Smith can keep carrying a franchise that has been putting out content steady since the 90’s.

Finding a way to fill the void left by Dunsworth may be hard to do when they’re telling a story outside of animation, which offers freedoms that live-action storytelling does not. The project will be produced in association with Blink49 Studios for TPB+ and it will be released on or before the series’ 25th birthday in April of 2026. Who’s thinking 4/20 is going to be special next year? Especially for Canadians!
Rollercoaster Entertainment, who has worked with the franchise for years will distribute the season, which was produced with help from the Canada Media Fun amongst other incentive programs and tax credits. Wells, Tremblay and Smith have owned the rights to the “Trailer Park Boys” since 2013, but the majority of their catalog still belongs to Netflix. This 13th season could be a turning point for the trio, but it’s hard to say if franchise fatigue could still come for the gang at ‘TPB’. We’ll be rooting for the Sunnyvale fam and having a Julian sized drink in Lahey’s honor.
What do you think? Who will fill Lahey’s shoes? Will Ricky ever stop scheming? How many cute cat moments are coming from Bubbles? Will Julian’s quest for a better life ever be achieved? Is Randy back on the burgers? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
