Marvel Drops 4th “Avengers: Doomsday” Teaser, Russo’s Tease Bigger Mystery

The teasers for “Avengers: Doomsday” were super hyped up for months as fans were originally led to believe by leakers that a trailer was forthcoming. Since the release of “Avatar: Fire and Ash”, Marvel has been releasing a new teaser each Friday then releasing said teaser online the following Tuesday. For now, fans believe that there will be no more teaser released until Super Bowl, at which time we will see an official trailer. There have been other rumors that there will be 8 teasers in total before we see RDJ as Doom, but this gossip seems like fantastical wishful thinking at best. Warning: Beyond this point, there are spoilers for anyone who has not scene the teasers for “Avengers: Doomsday”.

The first video was barely a teaser, basically just showing us fans that Steve Rogers would in fact be back for another run with his favorite pals, the Avengers. The second teaser showed off a much more serious Thor than we last saw in ‘Love and Thunder’, but again very little in the way of content that told us anything about ‘Doomsday’. The third teaser was the one that blew fans minds, with Cyclops reenacting a classic moment from the old ‘X-Men’ cartoon although we still get little in the way of story. On the surface, it appeared Sentinels just wrecked the X-Men and Cyclops is about to go up blasting. Whether or not this scene is a culmination of lots of story building in ‘Doomsday’ or if it’s a variant death smorgasbord for shock value remains to be seen, but fans loved the teaser regardless.

Although low quality versions of the newest and fourth teaser have been popping up on social media about as quickly as they get deleted, Marvel Studios finally dropped the teaser themselves. The promo opens up with a shot of the desert and then of Shuri (Letitia Wright) walking by herself. The Wakandan Royal talks about all she’s lost. The teaser then cuts away to Namora (Mabel Cadena) along with a bunch of Atlanteans and then to Imperius Rex himself, Namor (Tenoch Huerta), who looks like he’s in super serious mode. This is likely after the threat of Doom has been revealed to the world.

The teaser then cuts back to Shuri and M’Baku (Winston Duke) where the Black Panther reveals she has a king. The wait is brief as M’Baku reveals, he is now the King of Wakanda. Is he married to Shuri? Or do the two have more of a strategic partnership where Shuri acts as Wakanda’s protector and M’Baku handles the political problems?

M’Baku’s moments is short lived as the viewer finds out that the King of Wakanda is talking to Ben Grimm! This is the first we’ve seen in the teasers of characters from multiple universes interacting. Ben has a funny response about his iconic Yancy Street home to M’Baku before the teaser gives one last shot of Shuri looking concerned and giving her panther sign to someone off camera. The teaser then cuts to black, leaving us feeling a bit underwhelmed after the Cyclops moment. Part of the problem is that this promo showcased mostly newer characters that haven’t had much screentime in the grand scheme of Marvel’s vast multiverse.

Obviously, Kevin Feige isn’t going to give us a release date for upcoming teasers or trailers. but the Russo’s did give us a bit food for thought as to what we’ve seen so far. In an IG post, the directing duo said: “What you’ve been watching for the last four weeks… are not teasers. Or trailers. They are stories. They are clues… Pay attention.” Taking their statement at face value, they’re basically saying we’re seeing moments from the movie. We also believe there are possible hidden codes or Easter Eggs that haven’t been found yet.

One fan on reddit noticed that the countdown in Thor’s teaser briefly flashed a time and date stamp that referenced America Chavez, but this could just be a random coincidence. Chavez sees important to the Mutliverse Saga due to her ability to make a portal to any universe, but we haven’t seen her in live-action since. the second ‘Doctor Strange’ movie. The release of the fourth trailer also coincides with a new “Avengers: Doomsday” livestream that gives viewers a countdown clock to when ‘Doomsday’ hits theatersIt’s possible other hints or clues may be filtered through the livestream which is currently still running.

The Binge team. plans on doing a complete rewatch of the entire universe via our Chronolgical cut of the MCU and it’s connected universes sometime in the fall leading up to ‘Doomsday’, we will post more about that in the months to come. We have high hopes for ‘Doomsday’, which may not save the superhero genre but does need to prove that caped crusader movies are not dead just yet.

What do you think? Will we get more of these ‘teasers’? When is the trailer coming? What do the Russo Brothers mean by their cryptic post? Have we all missed out on some clues? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
