This policy explains what personal information Binge Rampage (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you use bingerampage.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website, our shop and our membership area. It sits alongside our Terms of Use.
Who We Are
Binge Rampage is an entertainment news and fan site covering film and television, publishing articles, chronological binge guides and interactive franchise timelines. For the purposes of data protection law we are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at info@bingerampage.com, or by post at PO Box 788, Pocono Summit, PA 18346, United States.
Information You Give Us
We only receive this information if you choose to hand it over. That happens when you create an account, buy something, join a membership level, leave a comment, or email us.
- Account details. Your name, username, email address and password when you register.
- Order and billing details. If you buy from our shop, we collect your name, email address, billing and shipping address, phone number, and a record of what you ordered. Our shop runs on WooCommerce.
- Membership details. If you take out a membership, we hold your membership level, start and renewal dates, and billing history. This runs on Paid Memberships Pro.
- Payment details. Card numbers are entered on, and handled by, our third-party payment processor. We do not see, receive or store your full card number. We keep only what the processor returns to us, such as the last four digits, the card type and whether the payment succeeded.
- Comments. If you comment on an article, we store the comment, the name and email you supplied, your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string. WordPress collects the IP and user-agent to help detect spam.
- Correspondence. If you email us, we keep the message and your address so we can reply.
Information Collected Automatically
Like nearly every website, our server and our analytics record some technical information whenever a page loads: your IP address, the pages you viewed, the date and time, how long you stayed, the site or search that sent you, and your browser, device type and operating system. We use this to understand which articles and timelines people actually read, and to keep the site working.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use them in three ways.
- Strictly necessary. Keeping you logged in, remembering what is in your cart, and processing checkout. The site cannot work without these.
- Preference. Remembering choices you make, such as settings inside our interactive timeline apps.
- Analytics. Google Analytics sets cookies to work out how many people visit and which pages they read.
We do not run advertising or ad-targeting cookies on this site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the shop, your account and the membership area will not work properly without the strictly necessary ones.
How We Use Your Information
We use it to run your account, fulfil and support your orders, manage memberships and renewals, publish and moderate comments, reply to you when you get in touch, understand which content is worth making more of, keep the site secure and prevent fraud and spam, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. Where the law requires a lawful basis, ours is: performing our contract with you (orders and memberships), your consent (comments, analytics where consent is required), our legitimate interests in running and securing the site, and compliance with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Who We Share It With
We share personal information only with the service providers that make the site run, and only as far as each one needs:
- Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its database and delivers pages through its content delivery network.
- Google Analytics, for the visit statistics described above.
- Google Fonts and Google Maps, which receive your IP address when a page loads a font or a map.
- Our third-party payment processor, which handles card payments directly and never passes us the full card number.
- Authorities or advisers, where we are legally required to disclose information.
Some of these providers are based in the United States, so your information may be transferred and stored outside your own country. Where required, those transfers rely on the standard safeguards offered by the provider.
How Long We Keep It
Account and membership records are kept for as long as your account is open. Order and payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Comments are kept indefinitely so that conversations underneath articles stay readable, unless you ask us to remove yours. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics’ own retention setting.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent you previously gave. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area these rights come from the UK GDPR and the GDPR. If you are a California resident, the CCPA as amended by the CPRA gives you rights to know, delete, correct and opt out, and we will not discriminate against you for using them.
To exercise any of these, email info@bingerampage.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you think we have handled your information badly, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, accounts are password protected, and card payments are handled by our payment provider rather than by us. No website can promise perfect security, and we cannot guarantee that information sent over the internet is completely safe.
Links To Other Sites
Our articles link out to studios, streamers, trade publications and other sites. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information, and this policy does not cover them.
Governing Law
This policy, and any dispute arising out of it, is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. This does not take away any rights you have under the data protection laws of the country you live in.
Changes To This Policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. If the change is significant, we will say so on the site.
