Marvel Studios hasn’t had any major announcements in the last month or so but it appears they were holding back to unleash a doozy on us in the form of 26 cast members confirmed for the fifth installment in the Avengers series, “Avengers: Doomsday”. The dramatic video panned through a long line of chairs with cast names on them. We get confirmations of some A-List MCU characters like Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie and Paul Rudd but there are also some notable absences in the upper echelon like Tom Holland, Mark Ruffalo and Chris Pratt.
Marvel seemingly wants to keep fans of the missing characters on the hook as they recently posted another tease via an IG back and forth between RDJ and Marvel. Downey reposted the video of the cast announcement with this caption: “That’s what u call a deep bench of talent… actually it’s more like a row, but an extra long one… That must be it…right?” Marvel Studios teased back with “There’s always room for more…” We’re hoping for some more mainstays like the actors listed above as well as Benedict Cumberbatch and Hugh Jackman,

Surprisingly enough, the list has more than a few fan favorite characters from the X-Men Universe, like Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Sir Ian McKellan’s Magneto, James Marsden’s Cyclops, Chelsea Grammar’s Beast (who we’ve recently seen in an MCU film), Rebecca Romjin’ Mystique, Allan Cumming’s Nightcrawler and a very pleasant surprise in Channing Tatum’s Gambit. The cast from the upcoming Fantastic 4 movie were also revealed which isn’t surprising at all seeing as Doctor Doom is the villain of this upcoming blockbuster.
Tencoh Huerta’s Namor is set to return to the MCU in Doomsday as well as Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Letitia Wright’s Black Panther, Winston Duke’s M’Baku, Sebatsain Stan’s Bucky Barnes and Danny Ramirez’ Falcon. The Thunderbolts cast is all pretty much confirmed along with the mysterious Sentry, played by Lewis Pullman. Finally, Tom Hiddleston and RDJ were both confirmed with Downey actually siting in the final chair before he shhh’s the viewer and leaves, Finally, the end title card crashes in to let us know that “Avengers: Doomsday” is now in production and we are dying to see the first trailer already.

There is no set date when Marvel will let us know whoever else they plan on incorporating into Doomsday, but Deadpool not being there feels like a missed opportunity. We feel confident Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will be announced eventually but Production will likely be shrouded in secrecy and closely guarded. marvel does have a history of leaks although their track record is definitely better than some franchises…we’re looking at you Game of Thrones.

What do you think? Who are the missing cast members? Will Doomsday Deliver? When are we getting Squirrel Girl?
