“Daryl Dixon” Final Season Sets February 2027 Return With New Trailer

AMC dropped a new teaser trailer for the final season of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” at New York Comic Con on Friday, October 9th, confirming a February 2027 premiere. The teaser posted to the franchise’s YouTube channel under the title “Official Teaser Trailer | February 2027 | AMC & AMC+,” and it runs 98 seconds. Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) are both back for the season, their last on the show. The panel happened on AMC’s Main Stage at 5:19 p.m. ET. Melissa McBride, showrunner David Zabel and executive producer Scott M. Gimple sat together to talk through how the series ends.

AMC Global Media’s own press site confirms the time and the three panelists, and its official logline has Daryl and Carol crossing “the ravaged badlands of Spain” as they “grasp onto hope” while uncertainty about their future grows. Warning beyond this point there are spoilers for the trailer’s imagery and the season’s setup.

AMC dropped a new teaser trailer for the final season of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” at New York Comic Con on Friday, October 9th, confirming a February 2027 premiere.”

No captions exist on this upload, auto-generated or otherwise, so nothing here is a transcribed line. What follows is what the footage actually shows, in order, cut and reviewed frame by frame off the downloaded file. The trailer opens on an overgrown two lane road cutting through dense forest, power lines running overhead. It cuts to a rider crossing an open grass field on a chopper style motorcycle. A title card reads “When the World Ended.” Daryl walks up to a crumbling stucco building covered in vines, past a bush of white flowers. A second card reads “They Found Each Other.”

Carol’s face appears through a sheer curtain at a window, worn and pensive. The trailer cuts inside to a cramped RV or trailer hallway, Daryl walking toward the camera past a beer bottle and folded towels. Carol’s face returns in close-up, visibly upset. A dim barn or shed interior follows: just a figure’s legs and boots glimpsed through vertical wood slats. Then the trailer turns raw. Daryl holds back a sobbing, dirt streaked Carol in a dry field, a shotgun lying on the ground beside them, and he looks a good deal younger than the man on the motorcycle. A title card reads “When Fate Pulled Them Apart.”

The timeline jumps forward. Carol is gray haired now in the present day and gives a faint, pained smile outdoors. Daryl and Carol sit together on a stone bench beside a still lake, his arm around her shoulders, both facing the water under pine trees. It is the gentlest beat in the whole trailer. Daryl is back on his motorcycle a moment later, riding down a dirt road through trees with dust trailing behind him. A card reads “They Fought Their Way Back.”

A dark stone interior follows, candlelit, with vaulted arches and wall sconces lit by real flame and a silhouetted figure standing at the far end. It cuts to a tight, firelit shot of Daryl’s face, tense. A card reads “One Last Journey.” An elevated wide shot shows a sprawling open air camp or market, choked with dust, tents and scattered belongings sitting everywhere, three silhouetted figures walking down the center of it. A walker gets struck mid swing by an off screen weapon in a sunlit rural clearing, the motion blurred, a flatbed truck and hills in the background. A quieter beat follows it. Several unnamed survivors sit around a small table on the porch of a stone house in daylight.

Daryl and Carol embrace outdoors in warm late day light, the two of them standing close together. A card reads “One Last Fight.” An overhead shot shows a group of walkers converging on a pickup truck parked beside a wooden structure. A cemetery follows it, homemade wooden coffins sitting half open in dry grass. One has a walker’s hand breaking through the lid, with plain wooden crosses marking the other graves. A card reads “To Find.”

A dark interior that reads like a derelict escalator inside an abandoned building shows a shadowy figure at the bottom. Two small round lights sit at head height. It is not clear from the frame whether those are eyes, a flashlight, or something else. A tighter, dimmer hallway follows with round porthole style windows lining the walls. Walkers press toward the camera through a doorway, one of them with blood matted into red hair. A card reads “Home.” A nighttime vigil scene closes the quieter half of the trailer out. Strings of lights and bunches of yellow marigolds surround a lone standing figure. A tattered American flag appears next backlit and blurred by motion behind a sheer curtain. The last shot before the title cards is a man’s bruised, bloodied face lying down with his eyes open and a hallway out of focus behind him. Nothing in the trailer identifies him. The season’s title card follows, then “February 2027, Exclusively on AMC AMC+,” then the standard AMC+ and Walking Dead Universe sign off cards.

One on-screen detail looks like a mistake until you read the panel coverage. For roughly the first thirty seconds, the trailer carries a lower third reading “The Walking Dead, Streaming on AMC+ January 2027.” That is not a second premiere date for “Daryl Dixon.” Gimple announced on stage, per Collider, that all 11 seasons of the original “The Walking Dead” will stream on AMC+ for the first time starting January 7th, 2027. The banner is selling the flagship show. February 2027 belongs to the final season: the closing card says it, the upload title says it, and Collider reports the panel was able to “confirm that Season 4 would premiere in February.”

Collider’s framing of the footage lines up with what is on screen. The outlet describes the trailer as flashing “back to the beginning.” It then sets up “the end of their story” as Daryl and Carol “set out on one action heavy, tear jerking adventure to find home and hopefully stay there this time.” That matches the title card arc exactly. It is a flashback to how Daryl and Carol first found each other. Then it is a hard cut to the present day push to get home. Next month marks sixteen years since Reedus first played Daryl on the flagship show, per Collider. That is most of why this one is landing as hard as it is landing.

None of this trailer includes Jimmy Smits. That is not an oversight. Smits was introduced as Captain Alejandro Perkins in a separate, shorter tease AMC posted back in September. He plays a former Navy officer and doctor. Collider’s own writeup draws a clean line between that earlier clip and this new one: “The first teaser released last month showed Daryl and Carol fighting through the Spanish badlands and having an encounter with Jimmy Smits’ uniquely resourceful former doctor and Navy Captain Alejandro Perkins, but this new footage goes all the way back to when the two forged their unbreakable bond.” Perkins is still coming. He just is not in this specific trailer.

A few things only happened in the Javits Center and never made it online. Undead Walking’s report from the panel floor is the only source for them, so treat them as reported rather than confirmed. The site says Zabel told the room that Genet’s mutated walker strain, introduced in France back in season one, has now spread into Spain. It also says Zabel confirmed the faction Los Primitivos returns as a bigger threat than it was in season three. Footage shown only in the room reportedly included new, faster walkers not in the public trailer at all. Per the same report, McBride grew emotional talking about the final season. She thanked fans directly. None of that is something we saw. It is what one outlet says happened in a room we were not in.

What Do You Think? Does the flashback structure, showing how Daryl and Carol first found each other before cutting to their present day fight to get home, work better than a straight present day trailer would have? Who do you think the bloodied man in the trailer’s final shot is, and what happened to him? And after sixteen years of Daryl Dixon on this franchise, is February 2027 too long to wait for the ending?
