After the success of the second and final season of “Andor”, the ‘Star Wars’ Universe has quieted down. The only confirmed series in development is a second season of “Ahsoka” with no set release date although a “The Mandalorian & Grogu” solo film (05.22.26) and a Ryan Gosling led movie tentatively titled “Starfighter” by “Deadpool & Wolverine” Director Shawn Levy are both bright gems on the horizon.
There are many untitled projects in various stages of development with the possibility for greatness but given the considerable amount of time Disney+ lets pass between seasons of a show, we won’t go holding our breath for anything that doesn’t even have a title yet. There is also one project that most viewers thought was never coming back but is now being rumored to return…”Obi-Wan Kenobi”.

According to reliable industry leaker Daniel Richtman, the series is currently in development at LucasFilm. We’ve already reported on the return of Hayden Christensen to “Ahsoka”, but the timing of this possible new development makes us wonder whether we will also get to see Christensen return as Vader once again, which the actor has expressed interest in on multiple occasions.
Kenobi himself, actor Ewan McGregor is eager to return the role and feels there is at least one or two more stories left to tell between Kenobi’s current timeline and the older version of the character that we all fondly remember from ‘A New Hope’. We are curious why LucasFilm would not announce this new season given the critical acclaim of “Andor”, but we also know that Comic-Con San Diego is right around the corner and the company will possibly choose to announce their next big project there.

The first season of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” received favorable RT numbers, but the fans seem to skew towards completely indifference and/or dislike for the project. The physical media called season 1 the complete series, but it seems like an easily fixable solution by naming the second season something slightly different, making a potential second season into tit’s own separate series…but that’s assuming the powers that be even care about what a box said years ago.
There’s still the possibility that an ‘Obi-Wan’ series can time jump and lineup with Ahsoka’s second season. With “Ahsoka” currently in production and looking to be released sometime in 2026, now would be the time to capitalize on some type of crossover although longtime fans might worry about the prospective creative teams notching some sort of team-up. This would also come at odds with the timeline for ‘A New Hope’ and the obvious differences in the actors age, unless they really aged Obi-Wan up. It’s more likely we get another season from the same era, with Kenobi feeling the effects of age.

A possible Lando cameo or some character from “Andor” is definitely in the cards for this series, if they want to learn from the mistakes of the first season.
What do you think? Will ‘Obi-Wan’ get a second season? Do the fans want that? What are the next ‘Star Wars’ Universe projects that will get given titles and pushed out of development hell? Will “Ahsoka” lives p to the hype? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
