“Andor” Season 2 Is Finally Here, With Huge RT Numbers To Show For It

The ‘Star Wars’ franchise has needed a win for some time, and “Andor” seems to have delivered, big time…without any flashy force fights between Jedi and Sith. The series released full episodes to a handful of critics, who have raved about the entire 12 episode season, while fans have just gotten their first taste with a 3 episode premiere. Each week, another 3 episodes will be released until the series finale on May 13th.
Fans hoping for a season 3 will be disappointed as the creators have stated that this is it for this standout chapter in the Star Wars saga, but could the popularity of the show warrant a spin-off that basically acts as a season 3? If that was the case, it would almost definitely be a long wait before we see Cassian Andor or any of our other favorite characters again.

…could the popularity of the show warrant a spin-off that basically acts as a season 3?

As of now, “Andor” season 2 has a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes (with over 600 reviews), coming down from a franchise high 99%. Andor season 1 also has a 96% on RT, which is a live-action high for the ‘Star Wars’ Universe, second only to the classic animated “Star Wars Rebels” at 98%. Most critics who have seen the entire season have also stated that this season makes ‘Rogue One’ a much better movie. This is the point of shared universes, but rarely seems to happen these days, so we have to take our hats off to the creators of “Andor” for what they’ve managed to do here – in a time where many fans seem quick to turn on the franchise for even the smallest decision or change.

The real story here appears to be how “Andor” managed to entice fans so intensely, without any use of the force that was the foundatonal base of the universe for so many decades. Is “Andor” possily a new formula for other studios to follow? Could franchise fever just be getting started? Fothe Star Wars-U, quite possibly. Warning, there will be some light spoilers for the “Andor” season 2 premiere ahead.

The team over at Binge Rampage watched the premiere and we shared the same opinion as many of the critics. This is peak 2025 TV…so far. This show feels bigger than Star Wars. Diego Luna, who plays the titular Cassian Andor as well as EP’s on the series gives one of his strongest performances to date. Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly), who has been in the franchise since ‘Revenge of the Sith’, continues to add a fresh element to the story as we see inside the government – on more of a street level.

The writing is way above par for television lately, with Writer Tony Gilroy, who penned ‘Rogue One’ and a majority of the episode of “Andor”, is credited for these first 3 episode and his familiarity with the material is evident across each episode. The Gorman plot starts to come front and center and we love the feeling of dread we get for the fabled ‘Gorman Massacre’ which we know will be here before the seres is over.

What did you think? Is “Andor” season 2 worth the hype? Will it’s super-sized 12 episode season win back ‘Star Wars’ fans lost over the last few years of lukewarm series? Have you watched all 3 episodes? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
