Brian Baumgartner or “Kevin Malone” as you might know him from his days crunching the numbers for a little Scranton paper racket called “Dunder Mifflin” is back on TV, but Kevin is in mortal danger. The comedic actor made a memorable appearance on “Suits L.A.” on Sunday, March 9th on NBC.
You may not be a fan of the hit series “Suits” which gained a huge after airing audience through Netflix (partly thanks to Megan Markle’s royal connections), but chances are you are a fan of “The Office”. “Suits” has spawned 2 Spin-Offs now and so far neither has been favorably received. The Producers have teased many celebrity guest spots due to the Los Angeles setting which will possibly boost their ratings and keep their series alive. Baumgartner’s appearance was definitly a step in the right direction for the new series as the least capable accountant from “The Office” had multiple hilarious scenes…but not quite yet on the level of his legendary Chili intro. Warning, spoilers for episode 3 of “Suits L.A.” ahead.

Scranton paper racket called “Dunder Mifflin” is back on TV, but Kevin is in mortal danger.
In his first scene, Baumgartner (who plays himself) cuts right to the chase and lets his entertainment attorney know that he wants to kill Kevin Malone. He is tired of being typecast and believe he can be an Oscar winning actor. Baumgartner believes that he needs to meet Tom Hanks, who was able to make the transition from comedic to serious actor. Baumgartner’s firm instead gets him a meeting with Patton Oswalt.
The 2 have a light conversation that turns into petty bickering, which was the funniest scene in the whole episode. Oswalt doesn’t believe Baumgartner an be a serious actor, which instantly offends him The 2 criticize each other’s resumes before Baumgartner storms out and threatens to fire his rep.

We got one final treat when Baumgartner’s rep shows up to his house and he’s shooting hoops in the driveway. If you don’t fondly remember the basketball episode from “The Office” in that moment, you are possibly made of stone. Baumgartner has a strong finish with his rep as they talk about his future as a serious actor and he gives her the most awkward of hugs.

Will Kevin Malone come back on the Spin-Off? Or will Brian Baumgartner kill him forever and get a recurring role on “Suits L.A.”?
