“The Studio” Gets Early Season 2 Renewal, Seth Rogen Teases Celebrity Drama

In less than two months, Seth Rogen’s “The Studio” has developed a strong social media buzz about the series, which Apple TV+ has noticed and subsequently doubled down on the series. The streamer released a very quick clip from a previous episode before the title card let us know that we’re getting another season with Matt Remick (Rogen) and the gang over at the fictional, but very lifelike Continental Studios.
Rogen’s grass roots approach to marketing the series, which usually involves retelling a brief story with an unnamed Hollywood executive on social media, has worked very effectively so far. The series has carefully woven celebrity appearances into the mix from some big names both in front of and behind the camera. Martin Scorsese’s role is still one of the best moments on screen by the Director throughout his illustrious career. Warning, beyond this point there will be spoilers for “The Studio”.

As of now, the series has aired 8 episodes, each with it’s own unique and distinct feeling. Each and every episode also manage to work the aforementioned gratuitous celebrity cameos into the mix. Ice Cube’s storyline as the voice of the Kool-Aid Man is one of the stronger showings, but there’s just so many to choose from. In a statement released by Creators Rogen and Goldberg, they expressed these thoughts: “We’re looking forward to taking the lived experience of making season one and immediately putting it into season two, then repeating that loop for ten more seasons. And, we’re excited to keep all our industry friends and colleagues guessing as to when one of their personal stories will stream on Apple TV+.”

The head of programming for Apple TV+ had this to add: “Seth, Evan, the entire creative team and cast of The Studio have knocked it out of the park with this brilliant show, and it has been incredible to watch the conversation grow with each new episode. We can’t wait to see where Matt Remick takes Continental Studios in season two, and hope for his sake that the Kool-Aid movie crushes at the box office.” The show has quickly become a fan favorite for the Streamer and it appears they want to keep Seth and Co. happy while the show is hitting it’s stride.

One of the major draws to the series appears to be the fan curiosity about huge Hollywood personalities like Scorsese and who (or what movie/show/studio) the stories in the series are referring to. Apple TV+ does not share ratings, but it does seem like “The Studio” and “Severance” are 2 of their most important shows at least according to Tim Cook, who said both series helped Apple TV+ to record viewership in the first quarter of 2025.

We’re likely going to have to wait until 2026 to see any more of “The Studio” after the finale airs on May 21st, but at least we know more is coming! How many Hollywood execs will need intensive therapy by the time the first season ends?
