The 52nd annual Saturn Awards for Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror didn’t fail to deliver a cryptic message to fans of the walking dead universe hoping for new series that might recapture the glory of the good old days and wipe the taste of world beyond from our memory. Rumors have been flying around Reddit for over a year about a spin-off with Aaron, which is now reportedly featuring Aaron and Gabe and to top that rumor off, allegedly 4 new TWD shows are now In the works!
There haven’t been any official statements aside from what Gimple and cast have teased in interviews. In New York Comic-Con we found out that AMC is still actively working on spin-offs and that one of those is based somewhere else In the world and is something “totally different”.

What has actually been greenlit and what is just a concept (like the Rick Grimes movie trilogy that never materialized) remains to be seen. There have been some rumors that the Aaron and Gabe spinoff takes place in Canada which could be what Gimple was alluding to when he mentioned new locations but that’s just random speculation.
While at The saturn awards show on February 2nd, Gimple was asked about the future of the franchise and if he saw it going on forever, he stated: “It’s hard in a world where there’s a billion TV shows, but yes, the goal is to always have Walking Dead shows on the air and to have those shows that feature the characters people love and then take those chances and be experimental and do new things with other shows.”
He does seem to confirm that they are working on more than just Daryl/Carol and Dead City but as always Gimple is a master of the tease. Can we hope for an Armageddon type Apocalyptic Endgame that brings together Rick, Morgan And every remaining fan favorite survivor? Will they get more experimental like that time loop episode in tales or Morgan’s dream life? Should AMC stop contributing to the franchise fever that is clearly plaguing the entertainment industry?
If you’re fans of characters like Gabe and Aaron then maybe you want them to keep going er maybe you just want to see a bunch of the old favorites back in Alexandria for one last fight. Either way it’s clear that the core audience of TWD seems long gone at this point with Ricks return not always viewed super favorably… at least on social media.
